Bulletin January 25, 2015

Upcoming Events: In case of inclement weather, please keep the following future dates/events in mind:
Saturday, February 7 : First All Souls Saturday 10:00 am: Divine Liturgy / Panachida / Hramoty
Sunday, February 15 : Cheesefare Sunday: 10:00 am: Divine Liturgy followed by Lunch … Forgiveness Vespers

Fast-Free Week: There is no fasting or abstinence during the week following the Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee. Our Byzantine Tradition directs that we not fast this week so that no one can pray in self-righteousness that they fast like the Pharisee did in Jesus’ parable read today.

Memorial Saturdays: The first of the 5 Memorial Saturdays dedicated to prayer for the Faithful Departed occurs this year on February 7th. Please note on the “All Souls” envelopes any additions or corrections to your list of departed family members and submit them by Sunday, February 1st for inclusion in this year’s Hramoty/Diptychs booklet.

Giant Gift Cards: Giant gift cards are available for sale following the Divine Liturgy. Our parish receives 5% of the face value of the certificates at no additional cost to the purchaser.

Food for the Needy: Please keep in mind that food collections are not limited to the holiday seasons. Donations of non-perishable food items are needed year round to assist our neighbors in need.

Tamburitzans: The Duquesne University Tamburitzans is a unique ensemble of talented young folk artists dedicated to the performance and preservation of the music, songs, and dances of Eastern Europe and neighboring folk cultures. The ‘Tammies’ will perform on Saturday, February 7th, at 7:00 PM at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville. For more information, visit the Tamburitzan website.
