Bulletin August 30, 2015

The Altar Candles will be burning during the month of September in memory of +Michael and +Martha Krofchik. May their memory be eternal!

Schedule Adjustment: Because of the 81st Annual Pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at Mount St. Macrina in Uniontown, PA, next Sunday, September 6th, the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Fr. Conan Timoney at (about) 10:30 am – after he completes the Divine Liturgy at Patronage.

Ecclesiastical Year / Holyday: This Tuesday, September 1st, marks the beginning of a new year on the church calendar – 7524 according to the Byzantine reckoning. The following week we will observe the first Holyday of the new church year – the Feast of the Nativity of the Holy Mother of God. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday evening, September 8th at 7:30 pm.

Baking: We have designated the following Saturdays for ‘Food Festival’ kolácsi baking: September 12th, September 19th, and October 10th. At this time we already have sufficient supplies of flour and sugar for this year’s baking. We have also already received cash donations and 27 lbs. of walnuts. The cash will be invested in additional walnuts ($6.99 per lb.), apricot, lekvar, raspberry fillings, and fresh-ground poppyseed.
We will need donations of large eggs closer to the baking dates and we could always use butter and margarine (not the ‘spreads’ which are unsuitable for baking due to their high moisture content). Butter and margarine are used for kolácsi (60 lbs.), haluški (18 lbs.), sauerkraut (6 lbs.), and pirohi (30 lbs.).

Slavic-American Festival: Epiphany of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Annandale, VA will hold their 41st Annual Slavic-American Festival on Sunday, September 13th, from 12:00 Noon to 6:30 PM. Admission and shuttle parking are free. For additional information go to www.slavicamericanfestival.com.

Let Us Remember in Prayer all those who are in some special need of God’s loving kindness and mercy at this time. Let us remember particularly the “Prayer Requests” of all who have asked for the prayerful support of our Parish Family in their special intentions
