Bulletin September 20, 2015

Upcoming Holyday: Looking ahead . . . Thursday, October 1st is the Feast of the Protection of the Holy Mother of God. For our Metropolia this is a patronal feast – our Church in the U.S. is dedicated to the Holy Mother of God under the title of her Protection. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday morning, October 1st, at 10:00 AM.

Thank You!: Once again we had a great team of volunteers for Kolácsi baking this weekend. Thank you for your hard work and dedication! Two bakings down and only one remaining – on Saturday, October 10lh (after a much-needed two week respite).

Holupki: On Friday, October 16th, we will begin the holupki making process by cooking the cabbage and preparing the individual leaves for stuffing. This task works well with several taller, stronger people to lift the heads in and out of the deep pots of boiling water (men). On Saturday, October 17th, we will complete the process with stuffing, cooking, cooling and freezing the holupki. We are in need of many extra hands (young, old, men, women) particularly for the latter cooling, storing, and cleaning up phase of the project beginning around 12:00 Noon.

Men’s Club Day Of Recollection: The Men’s Club of Patronage of the Mother of God Church in Arbutus is sponsoring a one-day Retreat on the theme “The Eucharist As Source and Summit of Our Lives.” The Retreat will be given by Fr. Daniel Grigassy, O.F.M. The Men’s Club has extended the invitation to the men of St. Gregory of Nyssa, Epiphany of Our Lord, St. Ann (Harrisburg) and the Byzantine Missions of Hagerstown, Abington, Gaithersburg and other local Eastern Catholic Parishes. The Retreat begins at 8:30 AM on Saturday, September 26th (no baking that day!) at Patronage of the Mother of God Church, 1265 Linden Avenue in Arbutus, and concludes with Vespers at 4:00 PM. Lunch and snacks are included. This retreat is free.
Please RSVP to patronage.church@gmail.com.

Let us remember in prayer all those who are in some special need of God’s loving kindness and mercy at this time. Let us remember particularly the “Prayer Requests” of all who have asked for the prayerful support of our Parish Family in their special intentions.
