Church Repairs Update: The ceiling in the men’s bathroom will be fixed this week.

Hurricane Matthew Relief: I am very honored that we collectively gave $710 for the relief efforts of Hurricane Matthew. May God bless us all and our parish for our generosity!

Fr. Conan and Our Liturgical Schedule: Because of Fr. Conans injuries and recovery, we will be following a new and temporary Sunday schedule of services. Father Deacon Bill will be celebrating Matins under special rubrics for the absence of a priest until we return to our normal schedule. Matins will be at 9:30AM and Divine Liturgy at 10:45AM until Fr. Conan recovers. So far, we should plan on this schedule until the end of November. Thank you so much for understanding this need within our church.

Prosphora Baking: Fr. Lewis will be making prosphora again this week and if anyone is interested in learning this skill either from curiosity or if interested in baking prosphora for our church, you are more than welcome to attend.

Haluški Making: Our final food prep project is haluski and cabbage. This year we will divide that task into a two-day process:

• Tuesday, November 1st, beginning at 9:00 AM we will cut the cabbage and onions.
• Wednesday, November 2nd (9:00 AM) we will cook the cabbage and prepare the haluški (dumplings), mix them and, finally, cool and refrigerate the finished product.

Food Festival Fliers: It is very important that we get the word out about our festival. Fliers can be found in the Social Hall and in the Church. Please take the Fliers and distribute them among friends and neighbors and post them on your local community bulletin board, supermarkets, etc.

Raffle Tickets: Tickets are available for each parish household and may be picked up in the Social Hall today. The cost of the tickets is $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Each envelope contains 24 tickets for a total cost of $20.00. It is important that families remember to bring back the tickets sooner rather than later to avoid a last minute rush of filling out new tickets.

Donations: Most of our paper products and supplies have been purchased by this time. We could always use cash donations for last minute items. We do need donations of butter and margarine, as well as soft drinks: Coke, Diet Coke, 7-Up, Pepsi; basically any of the major soft drinks in regular and diet/sugar free forms, please no odd flavors and cans only. Check the local stores for specials.
We also need Door Prizes for the festival, please be generous, and I believe that Sue is accepting and arranging the door prizes.

Festival Baked Goods: Our Bake Sale is a significant source of income. Besides our own kolácsi, the wide selection of your homemade baked goods is a draw to our Food Festival. In order to help with pricing, slicing, display, etc., we ask you to bring your baked goods as early as possible—either on Friday, November 4th or early on Saturday, November 5 th. It also helps if you label the items you bake and/or list the prominent ingredients (e.g., nuts, peanut butter, etc.) and the approximate cost to make the items. Some of our patrons request sugar-free and gluten-free items; if you prepare any such items, please make note of that information.

Festival Volunteers: In order for our festival to be a geat success, and because of our small congregation, we really do need Everyone to participate in this important and special event. So please, come out and spend some time with your parish community, so that together, we can support our church. A sign-up sheet is in the hall, please, all spaced Need to be filled.

The 2016 Bishop’s Appeal: By now we have probably all received a mailing from the Chancery office in Woodland Park, NJ. Our parish goal is the same as last year. If we reach or exceed our goal, we will receive a 40% refund of the total received. For 2015, St. Gregory of Nyssa did reach our goal. If each family makes a pledge of $200 we will again reach our goal. All checks are to be made out to: Eparchy of Passaic.

Special Collection for the Military Archdiocese: This year on the Sunday before Veterans Day (November 6), the National Collections Office of the USCCB has scheduled a special collection to be taken in each Catholic parish in the U.S. for the Archdiocese for the Military Services.
Bishop Kurt has instructed each of our parishes to participate in this important and special collection on Sunday November 6, 2016.
The USCCB office of National Collections provides the following statement:
“Currently 285 Catholic military chaplains provide pastoral care to over 1.5 million Catholics on ships, in combat, on bases and in 153 VA hospitals. The Collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Services will fund their Co-Sponsored Seminarian Program, which identifies vocations within the military and is now educating 30 men for the priesthood and subsequent military chaplaincy.”
