Bulletin March 16, 2014

Annunciation: Tuesday, March 25th is the Feast of the Annunciation of the Holy Mother of God – one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the Church year. Please note that Vespers and the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom will be celebrated on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM for the Holyday.

Pysanky: On Sunday, March 30th, following the Divine Liturgy, everyone is invited to learn the technique of dyeing pysanky in the Social Hall. All supplies will be provided. It is requested that you sign up in the hall by Sunday, March 23rd, if you are interested in participating to ensure that we have enough supplies. Old clothes are recommended, and young children should be accompanied by an adult. Cold dishes are welcome so that we can also have a bite to eat together.

All Souls Saturdays: The next two Saturdays are dedicated to the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed. The Divine Liturgy followed by the Panachida Service and the reading of the Hramoty will begin at 10:00 AM.

Giant Gift Cards: Giant gift cards are available for sale following the Divine Liturgy. Our parish receives 5% of the face value of the certificates at no additional cost to the purchaser.

Food for the Needy: The three pillars of Lenten repentance and conversion are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. As we fast and abstain voluntarily during the Great Fast, let us remember those who involuntarily experience hunger regularly. Donations of nutritious, non-perishable food products and Giant Gift Cards help to bring comfort to our brothers and sisters in need. “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you or thirsty and give you something to drink? …” (Mt. 25: 37)

What hymns of praise shall we sing to honor the holy Bishop Gregory? He is the trumpet of theology and the inspired song of grace, the precious vessel of the Holy Spirit and the unshakable pillar of the Church, the great joy of the universe and the holy stream of wisdom, the candlestick of the light and the brilliant star that illumines all creation.
