Bulletin October 22, 2017

Let Us Remember in Prayer: Those who are ill or convalescing. May our Lord Jesus Christ, the Physician and Healer of souls and bodies, grant them peace and good health for many blessed years.
Please let Fr. Lewis know if anyone should be added or taken away from this prayer list.

Eastern Christian Formation: ECF classes will resume this year. However, because of starting a new program and of our upcoming Food Festival, we will have to change the start date from Oct. 29 to Nov. 19th. Instead of our original start date, there will be a meeting with all ECF teachers next Sunday, Oct. 29 to discuss and plan the program.

2017 Annual Bishop’s Appeal: The new Bishop’s Appeal has already begun and no doubt the pledge packets have already arrived at your home. As stated in the packet, this drive is the major sources of funds that help to sustain the Eparchy’s many projects that help to build-up our churches—seminary expenses being one of them. Please prayerfully consider your pledge to the Eparchy because whatever our parish donates over our goal, we will receive a 40% rebate of that amount. We have gone over this goal the past two years that I am aware of, and the extra funds were greatly needed. Please remember that checks are to be made out to the Eparchy of Passaic, and not to the parish.

Saint Gregory’s Slavic Food Festival:

Food Festival Update, October 22

Two weeks to go before our Great Slavic Food Festival November 4.
Sign-up sheets are in the hall, ready for you to select those times you can work on festival day. Each box is for one hour of time and should have one name in it. Try to give us one to three hours, not necessarily back-to-back. You can also work at more than one station.
Raffle tickets and flyers are in the hall with your names on the envelopes. Each contains 24 tickets for $20. Take extras tickets to sell. Put the ticket stubs in the drum and give the money to Joanne or Sue. Also, take flyers to post in places people frequent.
Our door prize table is in need of new or things you haven’t used—and probably never will. Don’t forget those from Aunt Whoosie that some lucky winner will consider a treasure.
During the week of October 22 we will lightly clean inside the church (dust pews, remove seat stains, clean icon screen doors, get rid of cobwebs in church and in foyers, etc.) A good vacuuming will be done closer to Nov. 4.
Haluški: Tuesday, October 31 and Wednesday, November 1
One of the major attractions of the Food Festival is our home baked goods—these are also a major source of income. Now is a good time to make and freeze many special treats that can be sold.
Food Festival November 4, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Can you reserve one to three hours on November 4 to help out at our Food Festival. For more information, contact festival coordinator Sue.

Traveling Vocation Icon Program: Our Metropolia is embarking on a traveling Vocation Icon Program for all of the faithful of our Churches to pray for and encourage vocations to the religious life: presbyterate, diaconate, consecrated life of men and women monastics. Prayer is one of the most important aspects of our faith in God and when we pray fervently with full trust in God, our prayers will be answered. Please consider bringing the Vocation Icon into your home for a week and praying for vocations to strengthen our church and to lead us all to heaven. Sign up sheet is in church hall.
